Plans & Pricing
Cricket Wireless offers monthly pre-paid plans, so you’re not locked into any long-term commitments. Its plans range from $30-$60 a month, and all plans include unlimited calling, texts, and picture messages in the U.S.
Cricket’s 5 and 10 GB plans don’t include tethering – you’ll need to either subscribe to Unlimited Premium to access mobile hotspots, or you’ll need to pay an extra $10 on top of the Unlimited plan. Cricket’s unlimited plans both include international texts, and the Unlimited Premium plan gets you without an additional fee HBO max subscription, and 150 GB of cloud storage included.
Cricket Wireless also offers generous family plans with great discounts – you can get four lines for $100/month (although additional fees may apply).
Overview
Cricket Wireless is a prepaid wireless services provider founded in 1999 by Leap Wireless International. AT&T acquired Leap Wireless in 2014 and, by extension, became the owner of Cricket Wireless. Cricket Wireless is a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) that uses AT&T’s infrastructure – so the company offers AT&T coverage at discounted rates.
Features and Functionality
Cricket’s plans include calling, texting, and internet features within the U.S. You can also purchase additional add-ons like Cricket International, individual country add-ons, and device protection.
Calling:
All of Cricket Wireless’s plans offer unlimited calling in the U.S. For international calling, you’ll need to purchase the Cricket International add-on, which starts at $5/month.
Texting:
All of Cricket Wireless’s plans offer unlimited texting in the U.S., and the Unlimited Premium plan includes international texting. You can also purchase the Cricket International add-on.
Internet:
Cricket Wireless uses AT&T’s infrastructure to provide 4G LTE and 5G services across the U.S. The network provider offers smaller 5GB and 10GB plans for light internet users, but these tiers don’t let you create mobile hotspots. To access tethering features, you’ll need to either upgrade to the Unlimited plan and pay $10 for the 10GB hotspot add-on or subscribe to the Unlimited Premium plan.
Cricket is also one of the only MVNOs to offer a true unlimited data plan – most MVNOs downgrade you to 2G services after you hit certain data usage limits on their unlimited plans. But Cricket Wireless’s Unlimited plans offer consistent 4G LTE and 5G services with no usage caps.
Nationwide coverage:
Cricket Wireless offers nationwide coverage courtesy of AT&T’s infrastructure.
Crickets supports eSIM
Cricket offers eSIM packages for compatible devices and runs on a 5G & 4G LTE speed. Coverage is available across North America, in the United States, Canada & Mexico with select plans. According to US news, these are the prices for the most popular plans in the United States:
GB/PLAN | 1 LINE | 2 LINES | 3 LINES | 4 LINES | 5 LINES |
2GB | $30 | $30 | $30 | $30 | $30 |
10GB | $40 | $35 | $28 | $28 | $26 |
Unlimited | $55 | $40 | $25 | $25 | $25 |
Unlimited + 15GB Hotspot | $66 | $45 | $33 | $33 | $32 |
Ease of Use
Cricket Wireless ships every order through its Free 2-Business Day Shipping option, courtesy of UPS. If you place your order before 2 pm ET Monday-Friday, it’ll be shipped on the same day. Otherwise, if you place it after 2 pm ET on a holiday, or on the weekend, it will be shipped the next business day. And if you’re bringing your own number over, it can take longer.
Once you’ve placed your order, Cricket will send you a confirmation email when it’s shipped. You can use your order number and ZIP code to track your order online, or you can enter your tracking number into UPS’s website.
Activating your Cricket Wireless plan is really easy – once you’ve purchased a compatible device/brought your own phone over, you just need your order number and phone number handy. Then, head on over to Cricket’s activate page and hit “Activate My Device(s)” – and proceed to follow the prompts.
Customer support
You can contact Cricket Wireless’s support team via phone or live chat. Their phone support hours are from Monday to Saturday, 9 am to 9 pm ET, and their live chat support is available from 9 am to 11 pm ET on Mondays to Saturdays, and 10 am to 11 pm ET on Sundays.
You can also track your data usage, data usage history, and see your international call log from the “Usage” section in your Cricket account.

Final Word
If you’re looking for high-speed, unlimited wireless services, then Cricket’s Unlimited plans are excellent choices. Unlike some of its competitors, Cricket doesn’t downgrade its unlimited plan users to 2G services after they hit certain usage limits. However, Cricket does restrict your mobile hotspot data usage, which is a problem if you want to share your internet across different devices.
Cricket Wireless’s entry-level plans, including the 5GB and 10GB one, are expensive if you compare them to more modest competitors – Cricket’s real draw is in the Unlimited plans, which offer exceptional value for money. Additionally, if you’re interested in a family plan, Cricket offers generous discounts to help you save more.
Unfortunately, like many major wireless brands, Cricket isn’t known for having great customer support – many users have complained about it on public forums. But they do have a very comprehensive FAQ section, and the service is really easy to use, so it balances out.
Overall, Cricket Wireless is a great choice for families and users looking for unlimited data plans. Otherwise, if you’re an individual, lightweight internet user, you might want to explore other MVNOs.
